Ownership transfer

The record doesn't have to end at the sale.

Sell most boats and the history goes with the seller — a folder of paper the new owner may never see. hullfolio hands off the verified record instead, with real safeguards around how that handoff happens.

Nothing final until both sides say so

A transfer moves through three states. Either side can back out any time before the last one.

The safeguards, plainly

Ownership transfer is a real fraud surface if it's not built carefully.

HIN required
A transfer can't start without a confirmed Hull Identification Number on file — a baseline anti-fraud check, not busywork at signup.
Reversible pending
The transfer sits pending until the buyer formally accepts. Either side can cancel any time before that — nothing commits during the wait.
No partial commits
Ownership history and access update only once both sides are on record. There's no state where it's "sort of" done.
Full audit trail
Every state change — initiated, canceled, accepted — is its own recorded event. No guessing later how it happened.

What actually transfers

The verified technical record goes to the new owner. Your private life on the boat doesn't.

Confirmed components, service history, documents you've marked as part of the record — all of it carries forward. Personal notes, receipts, and anything you haven't confirmed stay yours. The next owner gets a verified boat, not your inbox.
